Keep your eyes out and remember to follow all instructions VERY carefully!  Lord only knows what will happen if you mess up.

But really what I’ve been wondering about is the theme.  We are starting things off with a performance as ceremony.  We ‘ve been looking for ways to incorporate dinosaurs and ninjas into the whole deal.  I’m tearing out pages upon pages from magazines about hair, make-up and jewelry, which is very foreign to me.  So what’s this all about?  So far the whole day is coming out of a place that’s so organic (we never declared we wanted dinosaurs and ninjas as a focal point, but the flip book was such a hit that we’d like to run with it — possibly even with the ceremony — just a little bit longer) that we’re just following where the brain storms take us.  In short, we’re being playful.  Its that same sense of creativity and what-if-ness that drew me to Andrew/Metz in the first place.  And that is why when I hear that one of his cousins is in fact looking for a dinosaur suit to wear for our wedding, I say “Go for it!”  Indeed, dear readers, we have even recruited one of our friends to play “ninja” for a day.

Every book we’ve read (yes, Metz read a book about wedding planning too) says that nobody cares about favors, and that most of the time they just get left at the ceremony site anyway.  We don’t believe that we can buck that trend, but we do believe we can have fun with them now that we know that they’re not important.  Below are a number of options we are considering for favors for our wedding.  Please select your favorite and let us know!

If you’ve come to the site because you’ve received your save-the-date, welcome and thanks for looking!  Amy and I will try to update this site at least weekly with some information about what’s going on in our lives and/or what’s going on in our wedding planning processes.  Feel free to register on our website and make comments, and let us know if there’s anything we haven’t put on here that you’d like to see!

In the meantime, we also held our first script-brainstorming session on December 27th, and we’re well on the way to writing a script that nobody (not even Metz) could have anticipated.  I’m not going to give anything away yet, but be prepared for a unique ceremony on July 2nd!

So for those of you (everyone) who didn’t realize this, there is a MASSIVE softball tournament in Boulder and the surrounding are from June 29th through July 4th.  I’ve been playing softball in Boulder for two years now, and I never heard of it.  It’s an annual event, and it means the town will be full of tweens and teens running around in softball jerseys for the whole week.

It also means that you should book your hotel rooms now or as early as possible if you are planning on attending the wedding.  We will have block-booking information available on our website as soon as we can, but at this point many hotels in the area are already short if not sold out on their cheapest rooms, so it may also be a good time to call in favors from a friend or relative and see if they have a spare couch to lend.
